Air Malta teamed up with the ‘Dive Down to Clean Up’ project that recently encouraged active youth participation in protecting Malta’s heritage through sport. The project consisted of a series of beach cleaning activities and enrolment in a diving course. Following the successful completion of the course, the participants were required to take part in a number of dives to clean up the seabed.
Around 40 young people from all walks of life participated in this project. “The activities combined non-formal education, protection of the environment, active citizenship through sports and cleaning up activities on beaches and at diving sites. All these values and activities form part of Air Malta’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, and help Maltese and tourists alike appreciate our islands more,” said a spokesperson for the airline.
Air Malta’s assistance forms part of its ‘Committed to the Community’ CSR initiative, that aims to support and encourage local organisations and activities in various sectors – be they cultural, social, philanthropic, humanitarian, environmental, sport or related to our heritage – that help the Maltese community in one way or another.
