The Malta Dementia Society in collaboration with the University of Stirling Dementia Services Development Centre is holding a one-day educational seminar, ‘Improving and Changing Dementia Care in Malta’, at Le Meridien Hotel, St Julians on Wednesday, 9 April from 9.30am to 4pm. The aim is to increase awareness and improve management skills and dementia care in Malta, especially among health care professionals.

Dementia is a serious, common, world-wide brain disorder that results in the progressive loss of cognitive function often accompanied by disturbances of mood, behaviour and personality. Currently, the estimated number of individuals with dementia in the Maltese islands stands at 4,000. This figure is expected to almost double by the year 2035, adding greater demands on health care services resulting in considerable socio-economic consequences.

Seminar registration forms can be filled through the Malta Dementia Society website at www.maltadementiasociety.org.mt. Registration is limited to a maximum of 140 applicants on a first come first served basis. The registration fee of EUR15 includes lunch, coffee breaks, delegate pack and free parking.
