Malta Independent Saturday, 12 July 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

To mark Earth Day 2008, US Ambassador Molly Bordonaro recognised five US firms operating in Malta for making a positive impact on Malta's environment. The Westin Dragonara Resort was selected as the runner-up for the "Ambassador's Award for Environmental Excellence" in recognition of its efforts to adopt "green" technologies and to ensure sustainable business practices. On 29 May, 2008, Ambassador Bordanaro presented Mr Michael Kamsky, Hotel Manager of the Westin Dragonara Resort, with a commemorative coin to acknowledge the Resort's initiatives. The Westin Dragonara resort has introduced a "Green Room Program," whereby guests can participate in conservation efforts by choosing to have their room linens changed on a less frequent basis. The Resort has also reduced its energy consumption by eliminating electricity losses and by switching to energy saving light bulbs.
