BOV Streets Alive will be giving a new aspect to the capital’s streets, which over the centuries have witnessed many of Malta’s most important events – Valletta’s central role as the capital remains but the city has taken a new aspect as Malta’s main cultural centre and, its streets very often are the venue for leisure activity for all the family.
BOV Streets Alive, held over the past two years, highlighted the positive aspects of the city through music, culture, entertainment and the arts. Because of BOV Streets Alive and other entertainment programmes events, more and more people appreciate what the city has to offer and more are willing to spend their summer evening there.
BOV Streets Alive is back again this year, starting on Friday, 25 July, the highlight of the first evening being Paul Abela’s Big Band entertaining with his repertoire of golden melodies at Great Siege Square. Prior to this the Police Silent Drill and the Malta Police Band will give a display at Palace Square. The Old Motors Club and Mini Minors Club will each be displaying their vehicles in two locations.
A first in Valletta’s entertainment history will be sessions of Milonga Tango Dance at St John’s square. There will also be Children’s Corner and animation in Republic Street. Artists and street buskers will be presenting their talent at various locations. Not to be missed is an exhibition of sculpture at the Auberge d’Italie as well as a special exhibition on Valletta set up by the Valletta Rehabilitation Project at St. Catherine’s Church.
The following two Fridays (1 August and 8 August) will each retain the same quality of entertainment. Not to be missed: ‘My Way’ by Joe Cutajar, Show Biz High by Battista Leisure Group and Luna D’Estate by Vox Lirica at Great Siege Square. All events are free of charge.
BOV Streets Alive is organised by the Valletta Alive Foundation with the support of Bank of Valletta. Also supporting the event are the Malta Tourism Authority and the Good Causes Fund.
