Microsoft introduced Internet Explorer 8, Beta 2, giving web users more choice and control over how to protect their personal information online. IE8, Beta 2 is also standards complaint and will display content in a manner that is more compliant with web standards.
“With this important product innovation Microsoft demonstrates its commitment to provide security, privacy and interoperability on the web” said Kevin Schembri, SMSP Manager for Microsoft Malta. “Not only does IE8 Beta 2 deliver a more secure browsing experience, it is a great example of Microsoft providing customers’ choice and giving users greater control over how their personal information is being shared or observed by others.” There are many exciting features in IE8 Beta 2, such as the InPrivate Browsing. When activated this option gives users the possibility of keeping their browsing history private on shared computers such as in the homes, Internet Café or public kiosk. Through this option one can comfortably shop for a spouse’s birthday gift on a home machine or even do online banking from a public kiosk.
Another cool feature is the InPrivate Blocking which helps protect privacy by offering the user choices in how they block content from third-party websites, particularly those that tract and aggregate online behaviour. Examples of third party content on websites may include maps, stock tickers and advertisements. This function gives users notice, choice and control over the content by providing them with the ability to choose which third party content to block and which to allow.
