The Hagar Qim temples are built completely of globigerina limestone. But this globigerina limestone has two mainly important parts. One of them does not erode wherever it is and whatever the conditions of the weather. On the contrary, the harder the weather, the harder it becomes. It builds an outside skin, patina, which is harder than its core.
The other type, the eroding type, erodes under all conditions as long as it is above ground. Even in a room inside a house, it also erodes. It also causes the surrounding stones inside a house to start eroding. The only way to stop it was to change the whole eroding brick.
But now it has been discovered that if the stone is sprayed with a certain liquid, which is very cheap and very common, it will stop eroding altogether. This has been proved for over 60 years.
I wrote about this idea in May 1999 but nobody cared.
