Bank of Valletta is supporting a conference being organised by The Malta Association of Credit Management together with the Chamber of Advocates, with the subject being the legal implications of effective interest charging. The conference is being held tomorrow from 12.45pm to 5.30pm at the Corinthia Palace Hotel, Attard.
More specifically, the conference will focus on risk assessment and interest charging, banking interest, the EU Directive to combat Late Payment in Commercial transactions (2000/35/EU), as well as consumer credit regulations.
The Conference will be inaugurated by Tonio Fenech, Minister of Finance and will also be addressed Bank of Valletta’s Dr Michael Borg Costanzi, Chief Officer Legal and Compliance and Mr Alfred Buhagiar, Head Corporate Finance Relationships, who will explain the concept of interest from the banking perspective.
Dr Larry Coltman will explain how to assess risk and charge interest, Dr Theresienne Bezzina, will discuss the consumer credit regulations and Dr Peter Fenech will address the EU directive to combat late payment in commercial transactions.
The conference is a source of knowledge for professionals who work in the field of credit management, legal advice and law, as well as the Maltese business community at large. The conference would also benefit academics such as ICM students and students of business, commerce and law.
