The Coca-Cola Malta Music Awards 2008 were launched this week.

How the Coca-Cola Malta Music Awards 2008 work
Local music artists were asked to submit their nominations for the category they qualify for on the website www.themaltamusicawards.com.
To be considered for an award, artists must have produced a single, album and/or video between 1 October 2007 and 30 September 2008. Websites do not have a time constraint and may be submitted for nomination even if the artist has not released anything in the above mentioned time period.
A panel of judges with experience in the music industry then came up with a final list of nominees as well as an eventual winner in each category, to be announced at the awards.

Special guests from the UK – Deepest Blue
Joel Edwards and Matt Schwartz are Deepest Blue, a chart-topping act with two Top 10 songs, a Top 20 album and Five UK Club Chart Number Ones to their credit.
The duo have experimented with dance and acoustic vibes resulting in their smash hit Deepest Blue, which they followed up with the number one airplay record Give it Away and two more singles Is it a Sin? and Shooting Star, which is used as the Sky Sports TV theme tune.
After releasing their first album Joel and Matt took a break to work on solo material (Matt wrote and produced Dada and The Drill and Joel went on to record an acoustic solo album for Mercury Records and produce for other artists like Melanie C). They reformed in 2008 and the summer hit Miracle was the first single from their long-awaited second album, going straight in at number one in the UK club charts.
