60 Second interview

Malta Independent Sunday, 23 November 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Martin Sapiano

Martin Sapiano is Events and Marketing manager at Bay Street, an all-consuming job which he enjoys. James Davies, chief executive and himself strive to make Bay Street not just a fun-shopping experience but also a great place to spend the day en famille. Martin is best known as the hilarious, charismatic, energetic, and until fairly recently fat entertainer on the airwaves. Yes, he was fat that is until he lost some 44 pounds. After shedding all that weight – by walking everyday and enjoying it and taking care of the calories he feels much lighter and can’t remember why he did not try to become thinner earlier.

After leaving De La Salle College Martin’s first job was as a dishwasher in Soho. He then flew to Libya and worked as a houseboy. Then he progressed to lab technician with the oil wells in the Libyan desert. It was Playmobil next and then Thomson Travel and a four-star hotel and finally Bay Street.

Martin is finally on the airwaves again and since July he has found a pretty and talented girl, Maroushka to host the show with him on One radio. They baptised One 4 All, All 4 One. This is aired on weekdays between 8.30 and 9.45am and until 11am on Wednesdays. The show is full of light-hearted games, competitions, discussions and goodness knows what else. Martin and Maroushka say it is possibly the only bi-lingual radio show in Malta – so far.
