Malta Independent Saturday, 13 December 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

In its drive to push excellence in the serving of Lavazza coffee in cafés, restaurants and hotels, P. Cutajar & Co Ltd, exclusive importers and distributors of Lavazza on the Maltese market, organise regular hands-on intensive training sessions for employees. A recent coffee workshop was held at the Preluna Hotel in Sliema, delivered by P. Cutajar’s coffee expert, Norbert Lange, a registered Lavazza auditor and trainer.

The training sessions focus on how to prepare the best Lavazza coffee for customers in order to achieve excellence in the preparation and serving of the quality Italian brand. “P. Cutajar goes beyond simply selling coffee beans. We offer the full Lavazza service which includes full employee training and continuous audits on site to ensure the perfect coffee. The Lavazza sign at the shops signifies an investment in the consumer,” said Mr Lange.

The workshops include information about the origins of coffee, its history and the cultivation process right up to the packaging. Mr Lange then demonstrates how to make a good espresso coffee, and how to develop a clean and efficient system to produce the coffee in the shortest time while extracting all the qualities from the product. Staff grooming is also of the utmost importance, in order that customers enjoy to the full their ‘coffee moment’.

Lavazza operates six training centres around Italy and training centres in its seven subsidiaries in the UK, France, Spain, Germany, Austria, Portugal and the United States.
