Platignum Pens back in Malta

Malta Independent Sunday, 14 December 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

In 1919, Platignum began making writing instruments in the UK and since then it has been writing the history of the pen. Platignum achieved important milestones and pioneered various inventions over the last 89 years.

In 1919 Platignum Pen Co. invented the self-filling, gold plated nib fountain pen. Platignum revolutionised pen design by the world’s first replacement nib in 1925. From 1939 to 1945, Platignum supported the war effort, commissioned by the MOD to create “spy” pens concealing maps and compasses.

Another breakthrough took place in 1950 when the company invented the retractable ballpoint. Platignum introduced the ink cartridge to the UK in 1965 and became synonymous with education for over 30 years. Platignum’s new signature style was born in the UK in 2007 and is now being launched in Malta by Golden Gate.

This re-branding of Platignum is about the future the company is building on, thanks to this unique heritage. From elegant ballpoint pens to top-of- the-range fountain pens, everyone will find a perfect balance of pleasurable performance and incredible design.

Apart from the classical and elegant Standard range, Golden Gate are also launching the Platignum’s Studio range. The Studio range is a discreet accessory for consumers who love the modern re-interpretation of a classic – the very best of British pen design.

With glossy black lacquer finish and chrome trim, it is the ideal gift or self-purchase solution. The Studio range is trendy, funky and targeted to the fashion-oriented customer.
