Opel’s Anticipated Antara at ‘Paqpaqli ghall-Istrina’

Malta Independent Monday, 22 December 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

Opel’s Antara is big news for the four-wheel drive segment. Combining dynamic, elegant design with intelligent four-wheel drive as standard, it stakes a claim as leader among volume manufacturers in the SUV segment. It boasts the handling of a passenger car, generous interior space yet compact dimensions, high levels of functionality and a raised seat position.

Opel expects the 150 bhp, 2.0-litre common-rail turbo-diesel to be the top seller. Meanwhile a 127 bhp diesel version is also available. Both engines come with a maintenance-free diesel particulate filter as standard. As for petrol engines a 2.4-litre, 103 kW/140 hp four-cylinder & a 3.2 V6 of 227bhp are also available.

The Antara’s intelligent four-wheel drive system combines the benefits of front-wheel drive – such as traction stability when accelerating and increased driving dynamics – with those of permanent four-wheel drive. It features an electronically controlled electro-hydraulic differential which ensures optimal torque distribution between the front and rear axles in all situations. The drive train is fully integrated in the ABS and ESP systems, enhancing vehicle control and active safety.

The Opel Antara will be officially launched in Malta in January 2009.

Opel is represented in Malta by United Automobile Limited at Abate Rigord Street, Ta’ Xbiex, tel: 2132-0560, email [email protected].
