This Christmas, YMCA Homeless received the sum of e2,330 from Vodafone Malta Ltd, as the Company favours charitable donations instead of the annual corporate seasonal card. The cheque was presented by Vodafone Malta’s Chief Executive Officer, Inaki Berroeta at a recent visit to YMCA’s new shelter that is currently undergoing refurbishment. The project involving the new shelter is also being supported by Vodafone.
“Instead of sending cards to hundreds of our business contacts, suppliers and customers, we have decided to do something meaningful and channel the money towards a fundraising cause,” said Claudette Farrugia, Corporate Affairs Senior Executive at Vodafone Malta Ltd. “The initiative means Vodafone is modestly minimising harmful effects on the environment while helping a non-governmental organisation achieve some of its financial targets for next year.”
YMCA Homeless supports the positive development of young people and intervenes by offering a spectrum of social work services to individuals who are underprivileged or socially disadvantaged. It assists in the rehabilitation of the homeless and works on instilling a sense of hope for the future.
