A Painter of people and places

Malta Independent Sunday, 28 December 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 18 years ago

Isabelle Borg’s latest solo exhibition has been collectively titled Strange Cargo. It aptly features double and single portraits in suitcases and paintings executed in the last eight years.

The exhibition, which is being held at the Loggia of the National Museum of Fine Arts in Valletta, incorporates landscapes from Malta and Ireland: the latter a country in which she lived for several years, and the former the country in which her home, studio, family and friends are now found.

Her travels have played a crucial role in her life and the people she has met and the places she has passed through have been given centre stage in this collection of works which she is presenting as her strange cargo.

The inauguration of this exhibition also coincides with the re-launch of the artist’s website which has been thoroughly redesigned and updated. The new website now includes an extensive overview of Borg’s works dating from the early 1980s.

Strange Cargo will be open until 30 January.

The exhibition has been supported by Heritage Malta, The Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, Bank of Valletta, Marsovin, Farsons, Citadel Insurance, Benny’s Frame Shop and Eye and I image works.
