Fifteen-year-old Ella Fleri Soler won the ninth edition of the Optimists Class EUROMED Malta Championship beating Maxim Nikolaev of Russia with a mere point.

The top three places saw Ella emerging winner with 18pts, after a tough challenge from Maxim who finished second with 19pts and Alexander Shelting, another Russian, third with 21points.

Thomas Zammit Tabone, winner of the past two editions of the Euromed and recently crowned champion in the HSBC National Dinghy Championship, gained fourth place.

The EUROMED is organised by the Malta Young Sailors Club in partnership with the Kunsill Malti Ghall-Isport under the auspices of the Malta Sailing Federation.

The five-day event raced in Mellieha Bay over a 4km course came to an end last Sunday.
