Four Colours – signposts for your personality and the right job

Malta Independent Sunday, 22 February 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

How would you assess yourself: are you rather strong willed and ambitious (= RED), inspiring and persuasive (= YELLOW), consistent and steady (= GREEN) or rather cautious and systematic (= BLUE)? You don’t know exactly? Well, you’d better, because every job requires specific character-attributes and you need to like what you do in order to do it well! People who lack this inner relationship between task and personality may be heading for inner conflicts, stress and even burnout!

Or inversely, you are searching for the best person to fill a vacancy in your organisation; you check skills and vocational experience of the applicants and hope that this is quite sufficient. Often enough it is not and to your great disappointment your new recruit turns out not to be the enhancement you needed. Why?

“Skills can be learned any time on the job, but personality, values and character remain very stable, and they are the main drivers of behaviour, on the job or elsewhere” says Peter Bolech, former CEO of Malta International Airport and now CEO of BEAM Coaching & Consulting Ltd. (www.beam-coaching.com) “Recruitments based on interviews, certificates and recommendations have a success rate of 20 per cent and less, with a high probability that you end up with a disappointment and consequently with high extra costs.”

According to a very recent Gallup-survey, 80 per cent of all employees don’t make use of their full potential at their place of work, in the majority of cases because they feel misdeployed! Imagine the hidden reserves that exist in any organisation, which would be worth releasing, especially in times of economic crisis!

A brand-new management tool can put things right! BEAM Coaching & Consulting Ltd has combined one of the world’s leading personality tests, INSIGHTS MDI, which has been carried out over six million times worldwide, with an energy-level check and specialized coaching programmes to “PIA – Holistic Potential Analysis”.

For the first time it is possible to give a clear picture of social competence, personal values, behaviour, strengths and talents of a person. Moreover, it draws a comprehensive picture of the personality by including information on vital aspects of physical constitution, such as stress and energy levels, biological age and the impact of substances, colours, feelings and thoughts. This opens up new possibilities for efficient learning and fast responsiveness. The result is a large-scale summarization of concrete, activity-oriented ways to exploit one’s potential, to the benefit of employer and employee alike.

“Especially in times of economic crises, organisations need to work to be even more target-oriented and purposeful,” says Peter Bolech. “You can’t leave some of the crucial points of your personnel policy to chance! And since time matters, the tests are carried out in less than an hour and are documented in a comprehensive report, which contains graphics for better understanding. It includes a detailed analysis of evaluated data and moreover an abundance of practical suggestions, which can be put into practice instantly.”

The scope of applications of PIA covers issues such as self-awareness as a major step of personal advancement, recruiting and assessment centres, team building and team development, communication training, media training, image consulting and style counselling and avoidance of absenteeism through timely stress management, just to mention a few.

“PIA”, which stands for “Power in Abundance” is now available in Malta as well and will be formally launched by BEAM Coaching & Consulting Ltd. and their local and foreign partners at a one-day seminar on 3 March at the Corinthia Palace Hotel in Attard. The attendance fee of €112 includes participation in the PIA – Holistic Potential Analysis Test.
