Malta Independent Sunday, 22 February 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

Ingrid Azzopardi, GO’s Internal Audit Director, recently attended the annual Forum for the Irregular International Network Access Plenary in Brussels. Ms Azzopardi addressed the plenary on the work performed by the Interconnect Sub Committee, which she chairs.

During the FIINA Plenary, attended by over 80 delegates from various countries, Ms Azzopardi sought re-election on the Executive Committee of FIINA – an international body that seeks to enhance network security and takes measures towards preventing fraudulent activity in the telecommunications world.

Ms Azzopardi, who has held different posts on this Executive Committee since 2001, was successfully re-elected for another two-year term. Other companies represented on the Executive Committee include Portugal Telecom, Deutsche Telekom, AT&T, Telstra and Belgacom.

Referring to the FIINA Plenary, Ms Azzopardi said: “GO’s ongoing involvement in FIINA has given me the opportunity to meet a majority of the world’s top telecom service and technology providers and share experiences with them on topics such as fraud in the telecommunications market worldwide.”

Ms Azzopardi also represented GO at another international event, the Financial Reporting and Accounting for Telecoms, held in Prague, where she delivered a paper on how Internal Audit can add value to a Telecoms Operator from her hands-on experience at GO.

Due to her vast know-how in the field of Internal Audit at GO, Ms Azzopardi is in an excellent position to make valuable contributions at international fora focused on specific topics such as enhancing network security.

As the result of a subsequent sharing of experiences during fora, GO’s Internal Audit Director has expanded GO’s capacity to curb the incidence of fraudulent activity in the various facets of its business.
