A new Lavazza Coffee Training Centre has been launched in Malta by P. Cutajar & Co Ltd of Mriehel.
The centre has, as a main objective, the culture spreading of coffee and maintaining quality standards at permanently high levels. “The setting up of our training centre emphasises our commitment towards excellence in the serving of Lavazza in cafés, restaurants and hotels,” said Clyde Attard, Marketing Manager at P. Cutajar & Co Ltd. “We are going beyond our remit to import and sell packaged coffee, offering a full Lavazza service and making an investment in the consumer,” he said.
Managed by registered Lavazza auditor and trainer Norbert Lange, the Malta Centre organises courses that delve into the subject of coffee, its taste, the equipment used to make excellent brews, and the methods of preparing and serving excellent coffee, since the goodness of coffee depends not only on the quality of the blend but also on the specific technical aspects to be followed before and during its preparation.
“The Centre is devoted to top-quality technical and professional training,” said Norbert Lange. “Our courses are designed to maintain the highest standards of Lavazza excellence, and to meet our customers’ needs by guaranteeing “best in the cup” quality – Lavazza’s added value. Hospitality professionals can further their knowledge on the history and geography of coffee, its distribution, its characteristics, and its global consumption patterns as well as, of course, all the secrets necessary to obtain the best final product. The preparation of an excellent espresso coffee depends in fact on a great number of factors like the quality of the blend, the perfect functioning of all equipment, and above all, a technical mastery of the entire coffee process.
Despite the innovative drive that Lavazza is synonymous with, the programme is still based on the strong bond with tradition and the 100 years of experience for which Lavazza is renowned worldwide.
The Lavazza Training Centre Network was formed in the mid-1990s and from the main centre in Turin has spread worldwide, disseminating the culture of Italian espresso and the “Italian style”.
The main centre in Turin is responsible for setting the standards which all the other centres have to adopt. The Training Centres and foreign subsidiaries are an offshoot of the 1979 Luigi Lavazza Centre for Coffee Studies and Research, founded as part of the Lavazza strategy of product quality.
In the early 1900’s Luigi Lavazza first invented the concept of the blend, the complex art of mixing coffee of different origins to obtain a harmonious and tasty product in the cup. Today Lavazza is the leader in terms of quality and is recognised throughout the world as the symbol of Italian espresso and being Italian. Lavazza is present in the world with 1700 employees in over 80 countries in five continents working through subsidiaries or authorised distributors.
