Malta Independent Saturday, 7 March 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

FIAT has once again achieved the lowest volume-weighted average CO2 figure of Europe’s top selling brands at 133.7 g/km. This is a further reduction from the 137.3g/km in 2007.

This was announced by JATO Consult, the consultancy division of JATO Dynamics, the world’s leading provider of automotive data, in its recently completed analysis of European automotive CO2 figures for 2008.

JATO stated that the 2008 report coincides with the target for European manufacturer groups to achieve an average CO2 figure of 140g/km by 2008 as previously agreed by ACEA with the EU. The drive to curb on emissions continues, and the EU has set a new target, that is by 2015 the average would be of 130g/km.

Francesca Mamo, the Managing Director of UCIM, Malta’ local representatives for FIAT, said that the continuous efforts by FIAT, to produce cars which are ecological and have low emissions, are paying dividends. These in turn are continuing to strengthen the brand’s position as the leader where it comes to environment.
