Melita is actively assisting community training in ICT aimed at moving the internet and computing closer to the general public through ICT Community Training Programmes organised by TCTC Ltd.

Melita is also sponsoring an e-photo study course where participants are trained about the different aspects of digital photography and photo editing, leading students to the ECDL ImageMaker certification.

“We are extremely pleased to support this initiative. ICT and the internet have become essential elements of our everyday lives therefore it is extremely important for everyone to have at least a basic knowledge of how to use these tools. This, we believe, also forms an integral part of Melita’s Corporate Social Responsibility” said Jonathan Dalli, Melita’s Marketing Manager – Internet & Telephony.

“The e-photo course is an educational programme suitable for everyone as it gives participants a clear insight on different aspects of digital photography and editing” added Mr. Dalli.

Melita has continued to register a strong demand for its high-speed broadband internet service.

The Malta Communications Authority market review for the period January to June 2008 placed Melita as the no.1 internet provider in the Maltese Islands. Melita’s broadband cable internet products hold 52% market share, offering super-fast internet speeds up to 30 Mbits – by far the fastest internet experience available the Maltese Islands.

Melita’s internet and connectivity platform is currently being enhanced following an investment of e10 million in a new state-of-the-art 100km fibre optic submarine cable connecting Malta to the rest of the world.

The cable will provide increased capacity for international connectivity, improved redundancy and reliability, a superior performance and enhanced quality of service.
