During a ceremony at the 62nd International Show in Hanover, Germany, the Fiat Fiorino was awarded the International Van of the Year 2009 – with 112 points out of a possible 140.
This prestigious title was awarded to Franco Miniero, representing Fiat Professional. The award was judged by a panel of jury consisting of journalists from around 20 European countries who specialise in the commercial vehicles sector.
This award signifies the many important novelties on the Fiat Fiorino which meets the needs of those who require a compact van which is affordable to run, effective in traffic and handy in parking manoeuvres.
Its compact dimensions allow for manoeuvrability while facilitating easy loading via a low door sill (527mm), sliding side doors and a large rear opening. The Fiorino boasts a load capacity of up to 610kg and 2.5 cubic metres of stowage (with passenger seat folded down).
Designed for long driving hours, the cab features a climate control system which maintains temperature and humidity as well as allowing rapid de-misting through eight high-powered air vents. In-car entertainment comes via a modern audio system featuring car radio with CD or MP3 player, four speaker stereo and a Bluetooth hands-free kit.
Low running costs are among the new Fiorino’s advances. Fuel consumption, servicing and repair costs are reduced, with two Euro IV compliant engines on offer for increased efficiency. A 1.4-litre petrol producing 73 hp and a 1.3-litre Multijet turbodiesel with 75 hp are available – the Multijet’s fuel consumption being 4.5l/100km on the combined cycle. CO2 emissions are rated at 119g/km.
Security features include ABS, EBD and driver’s airbag while two interior trim levels are available.
UCIM invites those that have never owned a Fiat to visit their showroom for a test drive to get a feel of its quality and driving pleasure. Test drive the “Van of the Year 2009”, Fiat’s Fiorino, today.
