A 21-year-old man pleaded guilty yesterday to selling some 70 porn movies on DVD media at €1 each in order to finance the setting up of his own website.

Ishmael Ellul, from Zurrieq, admitted before magistrate Antonio Mizzi to making a profit out of the circulation of obscene and pornographic material during and before September 2008.

Ellul advertised his wares on a local auction site while the actual transactions took place in his hometown after receiving emails from potential buyers.

Magistrate Mizzi conditionally discharged the man for a year and ordered the confiscation of 200 DVDs and a hard disk.

Police Inspector Graziella Muscat prosecuted while Dr Franco Debono and Dr Marion Camilleri appeared for Ellul.
