The iconic FIAT 500 makes headlines once more, as befits an authentic Made in Italy icon with the development of several models which are making this car acquiring a unique position in the current environment the world is experiencing. In the UK it is being hailed as the model which is the uncrunchable icon, which is sprouting everywhere in London, despite the crunch time.
Francesca Mamo, Managing Director of UCIM said that the success of this model from FIAT, together with the continuous efforts to enhance the Fiat quality product through research and development is leading to these results. Referring to the comments on the reputable British Times, Ms Mamo said that the same success of the model, is being witnessed locally. The combination of style and quality, together with low emissions and therefore incredible pricing is the reason for the Fiat 500s popularity in Malta.
FIAT’s commitment towards innovation has also led to the development of other models of the sophisticated FIAT 500. Earlier this year the original Fiat 500 show car dedicated to the most famous fashion doll ever: Barbie® was launched. The car’s first appearance was also carried in style, when it raced through the quintessential streets of Milan’s fashion district. “We immediately recognised the synergy between Barbie and Fiat 500 – the two brands’ unique profile and popularity make them instantly recognised worldwide and their shared roots in design excellence make it a perfect marriage,” said Richard Dickson, General Manager and Senior Vice President, Barbie.
This car is special and it’s just a one-off show car which was designed and built in a partnership between Fiat’s Style Centre (Centro Stile) and toy maker Mattel, to mark five decades of the internationally-known icon.
FIAT’s commitment towards innovation has also led to the development of other models of the sophisticated FIAT 500. Different from the FIAT 500 Barbie edition, these models are not one-offs and are expected to be available in Malta during the forthcoming months. These include the eagerly-awaited convertible version of Fiat’s iconic 500 city car which will be powered by the same very frugal, low-emissions engines which are available in the 500.
