The Malta Business Bureau has announced the appointment of Joseph Tanti as its new chief executive Officer. The MBB is the European Office of the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry, and the Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association. It has offices in Brussels and Valletta and represents local businesses at EU level.
Mr Tanti holds a Masters Degree in Human Resource Management (University of Strathclyde) and has a wealth of experience in tourism and business management. He takes up the post of CEO of the MBB following a number of years as Head of Industry Human Resources Development at the Malta Tourism Authority. Mr Tanti has also spent a number of years working in Switzerland, the United Kingdom and Ireland.
During his time at MTA, Mr Tanti was responsible for human resource development within the tourism industry at large. He also played a key role in the restructuring of the MTA and was appointed Change Facilitator, entrusted with the task of facilitating the human resources restructuring process within the MTA. Mr Tanti also has considerable expertise in the EU-funding programmes and the management of EU funded projects, some of which have been acknowledged as best practice examples by the European Commission.
George Micallef, who was recently appointed president of the MBB said the appointment of Mr Tanti will further strengthen the MBB: “The MBB is working hard to beef up its resources as well as the services it offers to the Maltese business community. We have also appointed two new executives to further strengthen the resources and infrastructure within the organisation. Mr Tanti’s role is critical in the implementation of a new strategy that will focus more on the needs and requirements of our members and to facilitate EU related information and opportunities to the Maltese businesses.”
The MBB has recently embarked on a strategy to strengthen the services it offers to the local business community and to increase its profile on both the local and international level. Under the presidency of Mr Micallef, the MBB will also be increasing its efforts to provide more value added services to support the business community, particularly on EU-related matters affecting their operations and to maximise on EU-funding opportunities.
The MBB also has a permanent delegate in Brussels, Omar Cutajar, who has been part of the MBB team for a number of years. Furthermore, in a bid to provide more holistic and efficient services, the MBB has also employed two new executives, Mariella Scicluna and Amanda Sciortino, who have received full training to enable them to deliver a quality service to all members.
