This year’s edition of the GreenPak Earth Garden festival will be held on 23 and 24 May. Since it first started three years ago, this festival has established itself as the largest green festival on the island.
GreenPak Earth Garden not only aims to set an example on an environmental scale, but also on the musical, artistic and cultural platforms. Following the model of the previous years, the festival will be held over a two-day period, providing two main areas: the MTV Mobile Open Village, which will be on a free entrance basis, and a music concert on Saturday at the Cisk Export Greek Theatre, with tickets available for the event. The MTV Mobile Open Village will feature an enlarged festive grove, a kids’ area, the Echo Fest and a food court. Sticking to our commitment to provide a new area every year, the 2009 Open Village will feature Wine, Art & Jazz, the latest addition to this varied section. This forms part of our effort to reduce carbon emission during the two-day festival as the Wine, Art and Jazz area is a re-structuring of the area that consumed most light, the art square.
This new addition will feature live music being
performed in front of a seated audience. The coordination of the music programme
is entrusted to the Big
Band Brothers, a 15-piece band of brass musicians, a pianist, bass guitarist and
percussionist.
A vibrant and hugely popular area under the trees during last year’s festival edition, the Festive Grove will this year reappear with an eclectic variety of treats. The holistic area, workshop activities, food court, camper vans, ethnic market and bazaar, and various jamming sessions promise to ravish our visitors during these two days.
Following the formula of the previous years, the Music Concert will be the only area requiring admission tickets. This concert will see the return of Tribali to the Cisk Export Greek Theatre. The band is geared up for their first performance this year at the Green Pak Earth Garden Festival, featuring their long-awaited second release The Elephants of Lanka, which promises to be an even more energy-driven and varied musical palette to satisfy the most discerning of senses. Considering the popularity of Tribali, their recent absence from the stage, and the limited capacity of the Cisk Greek Theatre, this concert is expected to be a sold out event.
