Anton Micallef is the new chairman of VISET. A practising international lawyer, Dr Micallef has been involved in several cross-border commercial law matters and has extensive experience in corporate and international law in the EU, the Middle East and the US.
On his appointment, Dr Micallef said, “VISET plays a central role in the management and development of the Maltese tourism industry.
As one of this nation’s two gatekeepers, VISET is entrusted with responsibilities of national importance that are best discharged with prudence and confidence.
“Much as the Valletta bastions embrace Valletta Waterfront, VISET is today a bastion for tourism. It is a synonym for cruise liners, ferry line business and sea passenger handling. In entertainment, Valletta Waterfront represents the premier dining terrace of Malta,” he said.
Dr Micallef said his main challenge is to preserve and nurture the company’s track record; cultivate business growth in a sector that is by its very nature highly sensitive to the global economic climate and, at the same time, navigate in a competitive international environment where the playing field is not necessarily level.
Joseph Zammit Tabona relinquished his chairmanship of VISET Malta on 31 March following his appointment as Malta’s next High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland. The board of directors, management and all the team at VISET thanked Mr Zammit Tabona for his contribution to the company and wished him well on his new appointment.
