FIMBank plc president Margrith Lütschg-Emmenegger recently delivered a speech on the subject “The Financial Crisis: Implications for Trade Finance and Growth”, which was part of the World Bank Institute’s course on “Export Development and Diversification”, held last week in Washington DC.

The course was organised by the World Bank Institute Poverty Reduction unit (WBIPR), in the context of a broader World Bank Institute Export Development and Diversification learning programme. The initiative was aimed to provide a comprehensive insight into export development and diversification challenges, integrating various factors, institutions, policies and principles necessary for expanded production, accelerated growth and diversification of exports in developing countries.

Course participants included trade policy makers, advisers, researchers, and private sectors operators from agriculture, industry, and services. The event also saw the participation of representatives of export support institutions and development institutions from all over the world.
