Lion Tea and Lion Camomile have won the Superior Taste Award 2009 during the annual prize-giving ceremony organised by the International Taste and Quality Institute (ITQI) in Brussels – an award which it also won in 2005 and in 2007.

The ceremony, held at the Cercle Royal Gaulois celebrated tasty food and drink from around the world in the presence of the international press as well as various government and industry officials. The jury of Chefs and Sommeliers, unanimously recognised for its unparalleled expertise, tasted nearly 800 products submitted by 290 companies from 75 countries.

ITQI is the leading independent Chef and Sommelier based organisation dedicated to judging and promoting superior tasting food and drink. ITQI works with a jury composed of 140 Chefs and Sommeliers, members of 12 of the most prestigious European culinary associations, such as the Maîtres Cuisiniers of Belgium and France, Académie Culinaire de France, Academy of Culinary Arts, Euro-Toques, Federazione Italiana Cuochi, Jeunes Restaurateurs d’Europe, Associaciones de Cocineros de España, Verband der Köche Deutschlands, Hellenic Chef Association, Associação de Cozinheiros Profissionais de Portugal as well as the Association de la Sommellerie Internationale (ASI) that is present in 41 countries.

Each product submitted is evaluated on an individual and blind basis. The intensity of the global gustative pleasure as well as the various organoleptic criteria (aspect, olfaction, texture, taste and after-taste) are analysed and commented in detail.
