Maltese tax firm Avanzia Taxand has been awarded the prestigious title of Malta Tax Firm of the Year on a European level in the industry recognised International Tax Review (ITR) European Tax Awards. The leading Maltese firm was nominated for the fifth annual awards – which are a milestone in the international financial community – some months ago when nominations were being finalised by a panel from the Tax Executives Institute’s European Chapter and ITR’s
editorial team.
“Winning this award is a great honour for us considering that the firm has only been in existence for the last four years,” commented Avanzia Taxand managing director Walter Cutajar.
“We are very satisfied that our work has received European recognition, especially since the International Tax Review is the world’s most authoritative magazine dedicated to international tax strategy. Working almost entirely with international clients, this award will also increase our firm’s visibility within the tax and financial services industry. The annual European Tax Awards recognise the firms that take part in the most innovative direct and indirect tax transactional, structuring, litigation and transfer-pricing work in Europe, and Avanzia Taxand is proud to have made the grade.”
Avanzia Taxand (formerly known as Avanzia Tax Advisers) was set up in May 2005 by a team of certified public accountants and tax professionals. The firm employs a small team of specialised graduates and experienced professionals in the areas of accounting, financial services, company law and taxation, and has plans for growth and expansion in the very near future. It has access to a global network of leading tax advisers through its membership of Taxand.
Taxand is a global network of leading tax advisers from independent member firms in nearly 50 countries. The group of tax professionals, which includes the Malta-based Avanzia, numbers over 300 tax partners and 2,000 tax advisers who help international clients manage their tax obligations with high quality, tailored advice that helps relieve the pressures associated with making complex tax decisions.
During the 2009 ITR European Tax Awards, Taxand members were presented with 10 awards at the ceremony, which was held at the prestigious Dorchester Hotel in London. After being shortlisted for a total of 14 National Tax Firm of the Year awards, the tax network received eight awards in different countries, including Cyprus, Greece, Ireland, Luxembourg, Spain, Turkey, Ukraine and, of course, Malta.
