Chief executives Roger Horner and Pierre Balzan of the e3 Systems Group have just signed an agreement with the Melita Marine Group that will see e3 open a new office in Malta to provide advanced electronic yacht services for all yachts visiting or based in Malta.

e3 covers every field of electronics on today’s advanced yachts, including communications, networks and IT, navigation, entertainment and security. Its team of manufacturer-qualified technicians has worked on over 2,500 yachts, providing a range of services from consultancy and design of new-build systems to complete refits. One of e3’s specialisations is communications, and they have pioneered the development of VSAT satellite services on super yachts, being appointed as European distributor for MTN in 2007 and adding an award from MTN for sales achievement in 2008 to their existing awards from partners Stratos, Vodafone Spain and SFR France.

e3 are the largest super yacht marine electronics specialists in the Mediterranean and have often travelled to work on yachts in Malta at the request of clients. The decision to set up a base here is a result of many years working on the island and builds on the history of close collaboration between e3 and the Melita Marine Group. The head office for e3 Systems is in Palma de Mallorca and the company has branch offices in the shipyards of Astilleros de Mallorca and MB 92 in Barcelona. In 2008, the company opened a further office in Antigua and this latest Maltese venture reflects e3’s business plan to extend its services into the major yachting centres.

e3 will bring extensive levels of new expertise to complement those already provided by the Melita Marine Group. Joint chief executive of e3 Systems Roger Horner said: “We are very excited at the prospect of formalising our close working relationship with the Melita Marine Group. Not only will we be working with them in Malta but also in many of the other yachting centres where Melita Marine is also represented.”
