On Saturday, 4 July – on the occasion of the All Nations Festival in Berlin – the Embassy of Malta in Berlin joined other embassies and opened its doors to the Berlin public.

The event, which was organised by the Berlin Association for International Encounters and other sponsors, including the Berlin Tourism Agency and travel portal Opodo, lasted the entire day and provided an excellent opportunity for the Berlin public to take a closer look at embassies at work.

With a crowd of over 2,000 visiting the embassy throughout the day, Maltese Embassy staff received visitors, distributed tourism promotional material about the Maltese islands, answered questions regarding all aspects of Maltese cultural life, provided flight logistics for reaching the Maltese Islands from Berlin and introduced visitors to English-language learning in Malta.

People visiting the embassy were entertained to typical Maltese delicacies, prepared by the embassy staff themselves, including pastini tal-lewz, galletti bil-gobon and Hobz biz-zejt. A member of staff also adorned the setting by wearing the full costume of a Knight of the Order of St John, while introducing visitors to a feature film about the Maltese Islands that was shown every hour.

An exhibition of Maltese stamps and another featuring the traditional Maltese faldetta were also organised for the occasion.
