In the First Hall of the Civil Court, Judge Raymond Pace refused to uphold a plea for an inhibitory warrant, lodged by The Palace Hotel against Dr Michelle Tabone, representing the Archbishop’s Curia, regarding the building of a wall between the Sliema hotel and the small church dedicated to Our Lady of Graces in front of Stella Maris church.
The two sides have more than one court case regarding this vexed passage between the two properties. At one point, The Palace had declared that it had no intention of invading this space, but it seems that this is what it actually did, to the extent that it faced contempt of court proceedings as well as another case instituted by the Curia claiming damages.
Although on 25 June, the Court had provisionally accepted the plea for a warrant of inhibition, the First Hall last week ruled that there were no conditions for the issuing of a prohibitory injunction.
