The government has appointed Dr Arthur Galea Salomone as the new chairman of the Malta Stock Exchange. Dr Antoine Fiott has been appointed deputy chairman while Dr Richard Sladden, Karen Spiteri Bailey and Charlotte Attard have been appointed as directors.
Dr Galea Salomone graduated as a lawyer from the University of Malta in 1988. As a Commonwealth Scholar, he read International Commercial Law at the University of Toronto and has practiced widely in Corporate and Commercial Law. He has been deputy chairman of the Malta Stock Exchange since June 2000.
He is also deputy chairman of the Malta Arbitration Centre, Director at APS Bank Ltd, founder member of the Finco Trust Group and sits on the Board of Directors of a number of companies in the affiliated insurance field.
Dr Galea Salomone is a lecturer and examiner in the Commercial Law department of the Faculty of Laws at the University of Malta. He has lectured widely on various aspects of Commercial Law including Capital Markets Regulation and has been entrusted with the drafting of various aspects of financial services regulation.
