Bank of Valletta has completed the migration of all its VISA Classic Credit Cards to EMV Chip and PIN Cards.
“This is an important milestone that completes the EMV migration of all the major VISA Card categories issued by Bank of Valletta,” announced Michael Galea, Executive Head responsible for Cards Business at BOV.
“Indeed, today we are in a position to issue SEPA compliant Debit and Credit cards to all our customers. Our Cashlink Visa debit card was the first card to be migrated to EMV Chip and PIN technology in 2008 and, since then, we have also migrated our Platinum, Gold and Flypass Business Visa credit cards as well as our premium Visa debit cards,” added Mr. Galea.
EMV Chip and PIN technology is directed at offering added convenience and security to the customer whilst making the point of sale payment process more efficient.
“Today we can say that our EMV Chip and PIN migration programme is at a very advanced stage and we are delighted to be in a position to support our customers by issuing both SEPA compliant debit as well as credit cards that can be used worldwide wherever VISA is accepted,” said Mr. Galea.
He added that the Bank has made significant investment in the systems and technologies required to be able to issue EMV chip and PIN cards through an end-to-end process that is entirely run in-house.
