Over 200 Excelsior staff, family and friends shared a second milestone in the organisation’s short but highly competitive history as part of the hospitality market in Malta.
The Grand Hotel Excelsior’s second anniversary was held in honour of the staff and the organisation’s many business and personal achievements since it opened in September 2007. In that time, the Excelsior has won two major international quality awards based on the brand’s standards of human resources management and 5-star cuisine from its brigade of more than 60 chefs. Team members and their families enjoyed activities including a bouncing castle, face painting and go-carts for the children, bingo, a police dog parade, water sports and, of course, a fine Excelsior BBQ lunch.
As part of the celebrations, the President of Malta, Dr. George Abela, lunched with Excelsior’s General Manager, Mr. Norbert Grixti and selected team members. These Excelsior team members were those members of staff who have been most nominated by staff and guests in delivering and exceeding the brand value of 5-star service to their guests. Proceeds from this event for the Community Chest Fund were presented to the President at the President’s Palace in Valletta by a delegation of Excelsior’s team members.
Ever since it opened, the human resources department of the Grand Hotel Excelsior has sought to reach out to the local community as part of its Corporate Social Responsibilities. Many staff activities that originate from the Excelsior are in aid of the Community Chest Fund, a charity that provides funds for the relief of poverty and education, and support for children in care.
