Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Tonio Borg this week addressed the American Business Forum at the Two World Financial Centre in New York.

Dr Borg’s speech reflected on Malta’s accomplishments in recent years and gave the government’s Vision 2015 as an example.

A discussion between the American businesspeople present and the Maltese delegation was held soon after, with the theme being “Old Routes – New Opportunities – Malta’s Part Important International Role for more than 200 Years in the EU/Mediterranean/African Arena and How the Modern Malta Benefits Business”.

The American Business Forum on Europe (ABFE) was founded in 2002 and provides American executives and entrepreneurs with a chance to learn more about the economic, business, political, and cultural aspects regarding transatlantic trade and investment opportunities.

In today’s globalised world, decision makers have to keep abreast of developments abroad. The US and the European Union are partners in the strongest foreign investment and trade relationship in the world.

The introduction of the euro and the enlargement of the European Union further underscore the importance of Europe for the US based business community.
