Master group has presented a donation of €2400 to Dar il-Kaptan in Mtarfa, which amount was collected through sales from Master Cellars, the group’s outlet in Naxxar.
The donation, the second one from master group to Dar il-Kaptan, was presented by Louie Camilleri, General Manager to Joe Pace, Administrator of Dar il-Kaptan at Master Cellars to coincide with the launch of Antica Pasticceria Siciliana, a new sweets section supplying authentic traditional Sicilian delicacies produced in Malta. Also attending was Ms Antonella Agius Micallef, Fund Raising and PR Executive of Dar il-Kaptan.
Speaking during the presentation Louie Camilleri, General Manager of Master group said “we are delighted that for the second consecutive year, we are extending our financial contribution to Dar il-Kaptan. Our financial support stems from our commitment to give back something to our community whilst endorsing the excellent work being carried out at this respite home which is constantly ensuring that persons with disabilities and their families receive adequate support and assistance.”
“We are also pleased to make this yearly donation to Dar il-Kaptan whilst launching the Antica Pasticceria Siciliana at our outlet. We have been working on this project throughout these past months and it is now reaping some interesting results,” said Mr Camilleri. “All products are produced by Antonio, a Sicilian entrepreneur who lives and works in Malta and whose delicious sweets have been enjoying an increasing popularity amongst all those who have tried any of his products. Besides respecting the authentic Sicilian tradition, Antonio’s delicacies ensure that all the main ingredients used, namely the ricotta, almond, pistachio, orange and lemon are genuinely Sicilian and is the strongest aspect that gives this product its uniqueness.”
Other aspects that give Antica Pasticceria Siciliana its distinct character is the use of pastry with the least amount of butter, the cream pastry made of egg, sugar, milk and the ever so popular Sicilian pistachio which is amongst the best in the world due to its strong but delicate taste
Thanking Master Cellars for the donation, Mr Joe Pace said “Dar il-Kaptan is currently offering weekly respite to over 250 families of persons with disabilities. The weekly stay based on a ‘home from home’ philosophy enables families to have a rest from the pressures and stresses of looking after a disabled person on a full time basis. The pressure on families of persons with disabilities is very real and quite often leads to family breakdowns or ‘burnout’. The average number of clients making use of the weekly respite service is around 17. A day service catering for 15 clients is also offered to those who do not wish to sleep away from home. This service gives a short but much needed respite and enables the family members to attend to routine matters.”
