Guests of P Cutajar & Co Ltd were recently invited to The Palace Hotel in Sliema to meet Jakob Vallentin, European Export Manager for Rose’s Cordial Mixers, who flew to Malta to purposely give a presentation on mixing drinks and cocktails using the exciting range of flavour-bursting Rose’s.

Trade clients as well as members of the Malta Bartender’s Guild could experience the ease and versatility of Rose’s Cordials and were impressed with the range’s new Mojito flavour where, in a minute, a fresh Mojito can be served without the need of any paraphernalia. The quality fruits used in all Rose’s flavours ensure drinks and cocktails have an edge to their taste, to the delight of drinkers’ taste buds and fancy.

“Rose’s Cordial Mixers have rich tastes with vital ingredients for many classic drinks and cocktails that give extra flavour to all beverages,” said Gunther Micallef Decesare, Marketing Manager at P. Cutajar & Co Ltd, importers and distributors of Rose’s in Malta. “That is why the mixers are today an integrated assortment in many bars, cafes, hotels and other pouring-out places in Europe.”

Rose’s boasts a tradition of quality that goes back more than 140 years and bartenders around the world have subsequently adopted the mixers in their profession making countless drinks and cocktails with Rose’s Cordials. They come in a variety of flavours including Lemon, Strawberry, Mojito, Cranberry and the well-known Lime.

The history of Rose’s Cordials has a strong heritage and tradition. The Rose family were shipbuilders in Leith near Edinburgh and Mr Lauchlin Rose set up a branch of business provisioning ships with supplies which included lime juice. Lime juice was used as a remedy against scurvy and the Merchant Shipping Act of 1867 made it compulsory for all ocean going ships to carry lime juice rations.

The demand increased and Rose realised that although the neat lime juice taken for medical purposes by sailors might not be everyone’s cup of tea, a sweetened, bottled and attractively labelled lime juice could well become popular in Britain. With that in mind, he introduced the first branded fruit juice drink – Rose’s Cordial Mixer Lime Juice. L. Rose’s and Company was bought by Cadbury Schweppes in 1981 and today is still part of this organisation in Berkeley Square, London.
