The San Antonio Hotel and Spa in St Paul’s Bay, has joined the Malta Tourism Authority’s Eco-certification scheme.

The Eco-certification was granted after a detailed environmental audit, as well as a further verification and approval by the Green Committee, were carried out.

The Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism, Mario de Marco, and the MTA’s CEO, Josef Formosa Gauci, presented the San Antonio Hotel and Spa with a certificate and a glass plaque during the award ceremony.

The role of the scheme is to encourage hotels to deliver a better product to meet the expectations of the increasingly environmentally aware tourist.

The criteria to obtain Eco-certification include environmental management, waste management, procurement, energy, water, air quality, noise, building and green areas, local culture and information dissemination.
