A large fire broke out at the Fino wood chip silo in Mriehel yesterday morning, however, no one was injured.
The fire broke out at around 11.15 am and consequently a black cloud of smoke formed over the building.
It was evacuated and all precautionary measures were taken to ensure the safety of workers. Members of the civil protection department arrived on the spot within minutes, yet the fire took quite a while to be put out due to the flammability of the material involved.
Fortunately, it was restricted to the wood chip silo in a part of the factory building. In no way did it affect the other departments such as storage warehouses, offices and showrooms, said Fino Group in a statement later on during the day.
It added that its showrooms remain open with business going on as usual. The company said it regretted any inconvenience caused to third parties.
