Yellow Pages donated 300 footballs to the Malta Sports Council (Kunsill Malti ghall-Isport) so these can be used in after-school activities being organised by the Sport Promotion Unit in different Government schools around Malta and Gozo. Yellow Pages is a relatively new company which has achieved considerable success in a relatively short period of time and has become synonymous with the provision of effective directory services to residents of the Maltese Islands.

Yellow Pages holds to heart the concept that individual entrepreunerial success, whilst fundamental in spearheading further business thanks to targeted advertising campaigns that are supported by particular merchandise, can also contribute back to the community at large. Yellow Pages thought fit to help in the proliferation of sport education.

It was thus decided that the football donation be made to the Malta Sports Council’s Sport Promotion Unit, which, for the second year running, is continuing to offer varied schemes and projects to help support sports in schools both at primary and secondary levels. This year this unit has developed further with the inclusion of eight teachers, the main scope for this expansion being the eventual outreach to more children who would be able to benefit from sports education.

During the scholastic year 2009/2010, the Malta Sports Council’s Sport Promotion Unit will be organising varied sports activities in five specific Colleges, apart from festivals and tournaments which shall be held on a national scale and involving the participation of every school in Malta. Thus the donation of footballs aims to be the first in a string of similar donations which will see Yellow Pages contributing also in helping church and private schools. This donation was officially made on Friday 13 November, at the St Margherita School in Cospicua in the presence of the Parliamentary Secretary for Sports Clyde Puli.
