A new song by Maltese songwriter Gerard James Borg Million Dollar Baby, will be one of 21 songs competing in the Norwegian selections for the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest. Million Dollar Baby will be competing for the golden ticket after being selected from around 1000 songs submitted to the Norwegian broadcaster NRK.
The catchy song will be performed by a Norwegian artist whose identity will be revealed by the broadcaster very soon.
Artic Sound (Robin Nordahl/ Frode Andersen), who have been involved in numerous productions in Norway and abroad, and have also received gold and platinum records for their work, have co-written the song with Gerard.
Per Sundnes, who will be hosting the 2010 Melodi Grand Prix national selections has been a commentator for the Norwegian broadcaster in the past few years, and has successfully hosted the MGP in recent years. He gave the following comments about Gerard’s song:
Why did NRK pick Million Dollar Baby?
Because it is a catchy danceable song, which is essential to any final.
How is it going to be produced?
Its going to be urban , lots of dancers with attitude.
What can you say about the singer?
Not much yet, but one who knows the ropes and can dance and sing simultaneously
Gerard is Maltese, how did you get to know him?
We met in Helsinki three years ago. He has an impressive track record and is considered “Eurovision royalty” among the fans. He already has a Norwegian bronze medal and maybe now he can hang another one around his neck.
