McDonald’s Malta unveiled its remodelled restaurant at the Arkadia shopping centre in Rabat Gozo. The new restaurant was officially opened by Melo Hili, Managing Director of McDonald’s Malta and fellow director Beppe Hili. This was followed by an inaugural speech by Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono which was delivered on her behalf by the head of Minister’s secretariat, Mr Anthony Borg. Mrs Debono was attending a conference abroad.

Premier Capital, the Development Licensee for McDonald’s restaurants in Malta, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania is currently going through an extensive programme of remodeling of existing restaurants. The company is planning to open another eight new restaurants within the next two years. This expansion programme will be financed through a Bond Issue for which the Company has applied to the MFSA for the Bonds to be listed on the Malta Stock Exchange. The current expansion programme marks a major development in the Company’s history. Premier Capital today owns 30 McDonald’s restaurants spread across four countries and generates annual revenues in excess of e54 million. The company restaurants serve each year more than 24 million customers.

The Company, which is owned by Marin, Beppe and Melo Hili is set to expand its business further by opening new rastaurants in each of the four countries in which it operates. The immediate objective is to acquire a mix of land and premises to develop new drive-through and in-store restaurants in key locations. The group’s portfolio is set to increase by 27% to 38 restaurants.

Part of the Bond proceeds will be used to convert existing restaurants into hybrid McDonald’s Restaurants and McCafes. The management believes significant market potential exists to further develop its existing portfolio in Malta and the Baltics.

In the years Premier Capital has partnered McDonald’s it has achieved a solid track record in meeting and often exceeding the stringent standards set by McDonald’s, the world’s most famous quick service restaurant brand.

A local management team within Premier Capital runs each individual country operation. A country manager answers directly to the Managing director. At an overall level, an international management team drafts and develops strategy for the respective markets. Hugely important to the Company’s success are its 2,400 employees. These people account for the Company’s uncompromising service and standards and for its continuing growth. This again is a credit to the Company’s hugely effective human resources programme.
