Hermann Bonaci Productions will stage the comedy In-Neputija tal-Kappillan by Joe Gatt at the Catholic Institute Theatre. The comedy was staged for the first time some 30 years ago at the Manoel Theatre. It was such a success that the production had to move to the Mediterranean Conference Centre.
The script is based on Giovanni Guaresci’s Don Camillo and writer/actor Joe Gatt created a new storyline introducing new characters including Giovann, an old womanizer, Angelo the sacristan and Johnnie Bumble. Dun Benit and Pippo Burrone are friends, but eternal enemies at the same time. Dun Benit is the parish priest while Pippo is president of the Communist club and village mayor.
To make things worse, Benit’s sister Gizella and Pippo are in love. Benit knows about it all but how can he tolerate that his sister weds a communist? In the midst of all this never-ending trouble for the parish priest, his niece Gizi suddenly appears in the village. Why is she there?
The cast includes Hermann Bonaci, Frida Cauchi, Joe Gatt, Marilyn Custo, Simon Curmi, Ray Abdilla, Ginger, MaryRose Mallia and Christine Bonaci.
