Nestlé has long been committed to recycling and ascertains that all products it places on the market are recycled. Today there are over 300 companies in Malta that are signed up with GreenPak Coop and therefore can use the Green Dot trademark and Nestlé Malta is one of them.

These 300 companies have joined over 130,000 companies in Europe which make use of the Green Dot mark, encompassing around 460 billion packages. The symbol has become synonymous with manufacturers who contribute towards the cost of recovery and recycling of materials put on the market.

The very popular Nescafé Collect scheme is another initiative where Nestlé and GreenPak are collaborating in Malta to recycle the Nescafé packaging material. Consumers can exchange the Nescafé Classic jars with the quality seal of guarantee – Maltese Flag icon – for various Nescafé gifts. These gifts can be redeemed at any of the three exchange points located at Nestlé Malta in Pantar Road, Lija, the Maltapost branches in Cospicua (which will be replaced by Luqa branch over the coming weeks – please call Freephone 8007-2209 to confirm) and Gharb, Gozo.

All the glass jars and lids deposited at these three exchange points are then collected and recycled by GreenPak. It is therefore essential that the Nescafé Classic jars are cleaned by consumers before exchanging to facilitate recycling.

GreenPak Coop issues the licence for the use of the Green Dot mark in Malta. The cooperative also operates the GreenPak scheme which for the past years has been diverting tons of packaging waste away from landfill and towards recycling.
