A man was critically injured when his motorcycle collided with a truck yesterday afternoon.
At around 12.35pm yesterday the police were called to Triq is-Siggiewi, Siggiewi, because of a road accident. Investigations established that a 34-year-old man was injured when his motorcycle, a Honda CB900, collided with a Dodge truck, driven by a 28-year-old man, which was going in the opposite direction. An ambulance was immediately called on site, and the motorcyclist was taken to Mater Dei Hospital. Magistrate Anthony Vella was informed of the case, and appointed a team of experts to assist in the inquiry.
In an incident later in the day, a 19-year-old girl from Fgura was injured when she was hit by a car. It took place at around 2.45pm on Triq it-Trunciera, in St Paul’s Bay. The road was closed to traffic.
The car, a Mini Cooper, was driven by a 22-year-old man from St Venera. An ambulance was called on site and took the girl to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment. Police investigations into both cases are still underway.
