Gudja-Swieqi 7-0

The first period was a balanced affair with Gudja going close early on through Roderick Debattista who shot just high over the bar following a good move by Dalzier Zammit.

Then the Swieqi keeper brought off a fine save to deny Trevor Thomas and the latter then missed a clear goal-scoring opportunity.

At the other end Swieqi also missed easy opportunities through John Debono and Brian Grech with Gudja replying through an Aaron Guazzo free-kick which finished just wide off the far post.

Swieqi replied through John Debono whose shot was cleared off the goal line but in the 33rd minute Gudja opened the score through Trevor Thomas following a good move between Roderick Debattista and Dalzier Zammit.

Thomas then missed a clear opportunity with Swieqi being denied by Xerxen off an attempt by Daniel Bianco.

Five minutes after the restart Gudja increased their lead through Trevor Thomas from a cross by Guazzo and they were then denied by Marmara off attempts by Roderick Debattista and Aaron Guazzo.

In the 65th minute Swieqi had Adam Calleja Urry sent off from the substitutes’ bench and a minute later they were reduced to 10 players as Mark Brincat was shown a straight red card for serious foul play on Clifford Mangion.

Then in the space of three minutes (68 and 71 minutes) Trevor Thomas scored two further goals following good work on the right flank by Guazzo.

In the final two minutes Gudja scored two further goals through Roderick Debattista and Aaron Guazzo for a 7-0 final scoreline!

This win means that Gudja have retained their chances of qualifying for the Promotion Play-offs.

Attard-Naxxar L. 1-6

Naxxar Lions dominated the first period and early they were very close through Mario Debono, Darren Falzon and and Adrian Fenech.

In the 29th minute Naxxar made it 2-0 through a low shot by Gilbert Camilleri and a minute later Naxxar increased further their lead through an angled shot by Victor Bellia.

Attard were simply inexistent as Naxxar scored a fourth goal on 37 minutes through Gilbert Camilleri who took advantage from an error by an Attard defender.

A minute after the restart Attard’s midfield player Kurt Zahra was sent off for kicking an opponent but they managed to score a consolation goal in the 70th minute through James Scerri with a fine shot from the edge of the penalty area.

Sirens-Xghajra T 2-1

Xghajra Tornadoes did the attacking in the initial stages and they were twice close through Brian Magro and Kirsten Buhagiar.

However in their first attack in the 19th minute Sirens opened the score through a low angled shot by Ryan Theuma following a through-pass by Giovanni Galea. A minute later Sirens made it 2-0 as Giovanni Galea managed to beat Roderick Camilleri from close-range.

Xghajra’s reaction was immediate and just before the break they were close as a shot by Neville Sciberras just missed the target. After the change of ends, Xghajra dictated the proceedings but Sirens created the best opportunities in swift counter-attacks.

They were twice very close through Lee Fenech with Xghajra wasting a clear opportunity as Anton Muscat shot high over the bar from close-range.

In the 88th minute Xghajra reduced the arrears through a penalty given for a foul on Anton Muscat and duly converted by Jesmond Azzopardi.

Seconds later Azzopardi was booked for a second time and was sent off.

Zejtun C-Kirkop 3-1

With Naxxar winning easily against Attard, the Corinthians were under pressure to beat Kirkop and rejoin the Lions at the top.

Zejtun took just six minutes to open the score as a shot by Charlo Magro went in past Kirkop’s custodian Mark Farrugia.

Kirkop came back through Brian Falzon whose shot was well saved by the Zejtun keeper.

At the other end Zejtun had a shot by Charlo Magro which finished just wide and on other occasions the same player was close with dangerous efforts which were somehow controlled by the Kirkop defence.

After the change of ends Zejtun continued to be the better team but it was Kirkop who created the first opportunity as a Leonard Zammit shot was saved by Josuel Caruana.

In the 58th minute Zejtun increased their lead as a cross by Edward Azzopardi was finished off by Carmel Formosa.

Three minutes later Kirkop reduced the arrears through a strong shot by Brian Falzon. Zejtun replied through two shots by Edward Azzopardi which were saved by Farrugia but a minute from time they sealed the issue with a third goal scored by Clayton Giordimaina.
