Attard Twins reunited at Fairyland Ward

Malta Independent Wednesday, 5 May 2010, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

The twin girl victims of the hit-and-run accident in Attard last Wednesday, were yesterday reunited at Fairyland Ward at Mater Dei Hospital after Rebecca Falzon, who had been critically injured, was removed from the danger list.

Rebecca and Sara were run over on a zebra crossing near the MUSEUM Christian doctrine centre at around 7.45pm, when their father arrived to pick them up. While Sara suffered fractures to her leg, Rebecca was slammed against another vehicle by the hit-and-run vehicle driven at a high velocity.

The vehicle driver, Maximilian Ciantar, was last Saturday charged with driving under the influence of drugs, and driving past a red light before hitting the twins.

A Facebook Group entitled Praying for Sara and Rebecca, presumably created by one of the girls’ school friends, attracted some 4,350 members.

“We need to pray for these two wonderful girls... so they will come back to school... we all miss you... Rebecca you are in our prayers. Love you both... Junior Lyceum Mriehel Form 1.6,” says its description.

The group wall is overflowing with messages of prayers and warm thoughts.

A particular note said: “Today we celebrated Mass specifically for them at school. Hope you get well soon and come back to school... (we) are all waiting for you”.

Another said: “Keep on praying so we will see them out of hospital as soon as possible. Hej Girls there is life outside which you still have to enjoy”.
