The Sliema Philharmonic Society is presenting an Evening of Operas, Operette and Canzonette on Friday 14 May at 8pm at its own premises, in 34, St Trophimus Street, Sliema.
This concert will be held with the participation of the choir of the Association of Lyceum Past Students (ALPS), soprano Karen Camilleri, mezzo-soprano Connie Frances Zerafa, tenor Bernard Busuttil and baritones Ivan Vella and Joe Huber.
The musical director is Andre’ Paul Huber, the pianist is Corinne Briffa and the producer Joe Fenech. The evening will be presented by Ines Farrugia and Tony Cassar Darien.
The programme includes Barcarolle from Jacques Offenbach’s Les Contes D’Hoffmann; Un di felice from Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata; Venti scudi and Quanto amore from L’Elisir d’Amore by Gaetano Donizetti; Bella figlia dell’amore from Verdi’s Rigoletto; Votre toast and Habanera from George Bizet’s Carmen; Inno a Roma of Giacomo Puccini; and from Verdi’s Ernani O sommo Carlo; Mia bella Fiorentina from Franz Von Suppe’ Boccaccio; O Sigismondo and Mi pare un sogno from Al Cavallino Bianco of Ralph Benatsky and Robert Stolz; I could have danced all night from My Fair Lady of Frederic Loewe among other well-known compositions.
Entrance is with a donation of €5 and tickets can be obtained from the Sliema Band Club or from Aquamarina of Gzira.
