Incorporating the latest technology, the STB conforms to the 2002/95/EC directive (RoHS) & the 2005/32/CE EuP directive. In fact the new set-top box consumes 31.9 per cent less than the maximum Total Energy Consumption recommended by the European Commission code of conduct on the energy efficiency of digital TV service systems.
The new melita netbox HD also incorporates advanced digital TV features which allow customers to pause, record and rewind live television at will, a completely re-designed Electronic Programme Guide and a fully fledged media centre with USB 2.0 and uPnP connectivity together with a large 320 GB in-built hard disk for recording purposes.
Melita is offering free installation of the new Melita netbox HD. Customers who subscribe to Melita’s new HD service until the end of June 2010 can benefit from the Early-Bird Offers, such as the waiver of the monthly rental fee for use of the set top box (€10 a month) until 1 October 2010. Melita subscribers who are currently subscribed to Melita’s digital television can also continue to enjoy their existing digital set top box on another television set in their homes for free until 31st December 2010.
Melita’s XL television subscribers will enjoy 10 additional free HD channels when using the new HD STB. These channels include Discovery HD Showcase, Eurosport HD, Nat Geo HD and MTVN HD. More HD channels are planned to be added in the near future. Melita also recently increased the total number of channels available on its platform to an unparalleled 150 channels, almost triple that offered by the other local operator. These include iConcerts, JIMMY, Lei, Live!, Nat Geo Adventure and KidsCo amongst others.
